September 16, 2016
Here we are coming to the end of yet another busy week at school! Things are moving along so quickly that next week is already the 6th week of the year; the half-way point of the first grading term. With fall comes the need for our first round of parent-teacher conferences. The teachers will be meeting on Wednesday morning to schedule conferences, which will take place on October 11th and 12th. Please be looking for a note to come home with your conference date and time next Friday, September 23rd.
Our parent-teacher organization, Wildcat PAWS, met for the first time on Wednesday evening. Thank you to all the parents who attended the meeting to learn more about the wonderful things PAWS does for the students and staff at Wohlwend. The first PAWS event of the year takes place next Friday, September 23rd. The Wildcat Prowl is an exercise-based event where the students run or walk around the field hockey field behind Oakville Middle School. Parents and families are invited to pledge a donation to PAWS for each of the laps their child completes. The kids earn bracelets and other prizes for their efforts.
As mentioned earlier, the Prowl is next Friday. We welcome parents to come up and assist with their kids during their scheduled time. Our schedule is:
- 4th Grade – 8:55-9:55
- 3rd Grade – 9:55-10:55
- 2nd Grade – 10:55-11:55
- 1st Grade – 12:25-1:25
- Kindergarten – 1:25-2:25
- 5th Grade – 2:25-3:25
Here’s a calendar of upcoming events:
Monday, September 19th – Our students will celebrate Constitution Day by learning about the founding fathers and Constitution of the United States. We ask the kids wear red, white, and blue to help celebrate this patriotic day!
Tuesday, September 20th – The Mehlville Board of Education will host a listening meeting at Buerkle Middle School (623 Buckley Road, 63125) at 6:30 pm. Members from the Board of Education and our central office administrators will answer the questions residents have about the school district. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Thursday, September 22nd – Our Wohlwend teachers are sponsoring a Stand Up to Cancer fundraiser in support of former Wohlwend and current Hagemann teacher Kristi Boccardi. Mrs. Boccardi is currently battling colon cancer, and she is a huge Mizzou fan. The students and staff may wear gear from their favorite colleges (including hats) on Thursday. We ask everyone to bring a $1 donation, which will be donated to the Stand Up to Cancer.
Friday, September 23rd – The Wildcat Prowl will take place on the field behind Oakville Middle School. Refer to the schedule above for your child’s time.
Those are all of our announcements for this week. I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
