wohlwend-dave-meschke2019.jpgDear Wohlwend Families,

We've come to the end of a most unusual school year.Tomorrow is the last day of "school" for our students. Where typically we would be enjoying year-end excitement and celebrations, our building is quiet. This is so sad!

There are quite a few final updates today. Please find them below:

Chromebooks - The students will keep their Chromebooks over the summer. Students going into 6th grade will take their Chromebook with them to middle school, and everyone else will bring theirs back in late August for the start of school.

Student Material Pick-Up - We are still on track to have parents come to get their students' materials at some point during the week of June 8th. The format for materials pick-up will be very similar to when we passed out Chromebooks. Dates haven't been set yet, but we will have two possible days, with morning and late afternoon / early evening times where you can come to pick up your child's things.

Library Books - Feel free to drop off any school library books you have at home during materials pick-up. St. Louis County Library bookmobile books can be returned to the Cliff Cave Branch.

Spring Pictures / Yearbooks - Spring pictures are in the office now, and we will hand them out when you pick up your child's things. We will do the same with yearbooks if they arrive on time. Otherwise yearbooks will be given to the students at the start of the next school year. Other arrangements will be made for families who will not be at Wohlwend next year.

Teacher Placement Letters - Placement letters will be emailed to families during the week of June 8th.

Teacher Movement - We are pleased to announce several changes to our staff for the next school year. Leaving us are Ms. Hermann and Mrs. Tinsely. Ms. Hermann is our reading interventionist, and she was promoted to a district instructional coach. Mrs. Tinsley accepted a PE position in the Kirkwood School District.

Mrs. Geders will now be our reading interventionist at Wohlwend. Ms. Tappana is moving to first grade to take her spot. We are in the process of hiring a 4th-grade teacher since we will have 4 classrooms in 4th grade next school year

Start of School / Meet the Teacher - The first day of school next year is Tuesday, August 25, 2020. We will hold Kindergarten Orientation at 4:00 PM on August 20, 2020. Meet the Teacher / Curriculum Night for 1st through 5th grades will also be held on August 20th from 4:30 PM until 6:00 PM.

Final Parent Meeting - Our final Google Meet for parents is scheduled for this evening (May 26th) at 6:30 PM. You can join the Meet by following this link: https://meet.google.com/chz-vyvt-mbt. We will answer your remaining questions about this most unusual school year during the meeting this evening. Please join us if you can!

Those are all of our updates for now. I will continue to send out information as it becomes available over the summer. I expect to have finalized information about materials pick-up by the end of next week.

Thank you for an outstanding year, and thank you for working with us this spring during the stay-at-home order. Congratulations also to all of our 5th-grade students and families. We are happy to have worked with you over the years, and we will miss you very much!

Have a wonderful summer! We can't wait to see everyone in August!

Sincerely,

Dave Meschke and Michelle Wood
